Lions and Tigers and Bears oh my We’ve been heari…

Lions and Tigers and Bears oh my

We’ve been hearing strange noises the past few nights. The other night we heard what we thought was a cat which sounded like it was being tortured. It was a horrible cat-like sound. It was pretty spooky, but we couldn’t see anything out our windows (and certainly weren’t going to set foot outside) so we went back to bed and fell asleep again. Then last night we heard noises again. One animal definitely had to be a raccoon. We have raccoons pretty bad out here that like to get into garbage, but the other animal sound we couldn’t figure out. Jason turned on the back light and saw a raccoon running away, but we didn’t see the other animal.

So I decided to do some online investigative work this morning. Turns out that a woman in our small town spotted a cougar last week. So we may be hearing a cougar at night. The DNR refuses to admit Michigan still has cougars (it reports the last cougar in Michigan was in the early 1900s), but Wisconsin and Minnesota still have them, so they can certainly find their way back here. Two cougars were reportedly spotted in Sterling Heights in July as well. Kind of freaky, but I’ll definitely be keeping my eyes and ears peeled for possible cougar sightings/hearings.

Not much to report on the knitting front. I’m anxiously awaiting the start of my two knit alongs. I really can’t wait to start the poncho. I’m also still reading The Girl With A Pearl Earring. It’s a wonderful book. I checked out another book by the same author today at the library but will have to post the title later– I can’t remember it.
