Want to know what’s going on at my house today?

This is what went up yesterday:

And this is what went up Sunday:

Jason is building his garage! My weekend has been spent making food for all the boys and helping a little when they lift the walls. I have managed to get a little knitting in, as well. I’m into the 2nd repeat out of 11 for the last section of increases on the Hot Lava cardigan! The pattern is really neat and I LOVE that it’s worked without ANY seams, but I absolutely despise picking up stitches. They put me in a bit of a panic because I always think I’ll end up with holes or puckering or some other catastrophe, and this pattern has you pick up 102. Yikes! I think I did ok though.

Only the seed stitch to go now!!

I also managed to knit up the Ribbon Triangles scarf/mini-shawl this week while temping. My MIL bought me the yarn and pattern, and while it’s not something I would normally buy, I’m happy with the results. It was one of the easiest projects I’ve worked on in a while, and made for great lap-knitting under the desk at my receptionist job. The self-fringing part was clever as well.

In other news, we’ve had someone staying at our house this week; one of Jason’s friends who, a few months ago, starting working at the same company Jason works for. He lost his driver’s license (long story I’m sure he wouldn’t want me to post about), and will be staying with us and carpooling with Jason for a while. I’m undecided on this. I definitely feel bad for him, and think he should stay here on one hand, however on the other, I don’t really want him to see that “other” side of me, KWIM? The cranky, crying-due-to-pms-self, haven’t-had-my-coffee-yet-self, haven’t-eaten-dinner-yet-self, my pissed-at-Jason-for-not-calling-self, the-house-is-a-mess-and-I-don’t-feel-like-getting-off- my-lazy-ass-to-do-anything-but-knit-and-watch-tv-self, etc etc. I guess my issue is that I’ve never lived with anyone other than my family and Jason. I haven’t had to struggle with the whole food-shopping, cleaning house, not to mention the whole “bedroom issues” thing. I just feel like I’m on-guard and watching my step all the time. I just know I’m going to blow up because I’ve had to be perky all week at home and at my stupid receptionist job. Sigh. And I’m pmsing to boot. I guess our “guest” better watch out! LOL

Have any great knit-in-the-round pattern links to share? I’m looking for aran, worsted and dk weight. Something relatively simple, but I’m not against simple cabling or a LITTLE lace detail at the top or bottom. It doesn’t have to be online either, so if you know of any great patterns in books (other than EZ’s and the Sweater Design books which I already know about), please share those as well 🙂

Oh I almost forgot to mention. I stopped at the thrift store yesterday hoping to find some yarn or other such wonders, and while I found no yarn, I did manage to score a copy of Knitting in America by Melanie Falick and The Knitter’s Guide to Sweater Design for $3 a piece. I was so excited when my eyes spotted the titles.

Garden pics:
I managed to make a few “bouquets” of flowers yesterday, even in my PMSyness.
Here are some black eyed susans. It’s funny that I have quite a few vases, but I just liked the way these looked in the Mason jar. Nice and old fashioned.

Here are my phlox. They’re about done, but they smell so delicious I had to bring some inside, if even for just a day or two:

And here are a baby pumpkin and a baby butternut squash:
